Year 1 Elections and Handbook Release

First Year Election Nominations Are Open!

Happy Friday everyone!

JCUMSA is looking for four first years to join our team this year!

JCUMSA is the major representative association for JCU medical students and holding a position within JCUMSA provides many opportunities to influence the experience of JCU medical student peers, and to become involved with the College of Medicine.

As announced at your Welcome BBQ, we are looking for two events representatives, and two academic representatives. Please read the position descriptions BEFORE applying, which are available on our website’s “Get Involved” page and elaborated here:’t hesitate to contact the Academic VP (Abi) or the Events VP (Lara) for any further information about each role.

Link to the application form:

The information you provide in this form (specifically your name, photo, 200 word blurb, and the names of your JCUMSA Gold seconders) will be published in a document and distributed to all first year medical students on Tuesday, the 15th of March.

Nominations close at 5PM on SUNDAY the 13th of March.

Voting will then open on WEDNESDAY the 16th of March.

Remember you must be a JCUMSA Gold member to nominate for a position. If you aren’t yet, you still have the opportunity to become one at our store.

Our Pre-Clinical Handbook is Out!

Click for a complimentary copy of our digital Pre-Clinical Handbook – a fantastic guide on everything you’ll ever need to know about the next 3 years of your degree. Limited edition hardcopies (with bonus extras!) can be pre-ordered on our website before midnight, this Sunday (6th March) – this is the very first year they’re getting printed and we highly suggest you getting one!

Congratulations to Alexander Thomas, Milla Hensen, Paterson McKinnon, Harvey Houlahan, Josephine Oehler, Jessica Dorl, Rahat Sheikh, Aireena Benny, Elijah Martins and Isabella Bicalho  for scoring a free copy already. We’ll also be contacting the winners of our GOLD draw (1x MedCamp Ticket and 2x 50% off MedBall tickets) shortly.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Kind Regards,

Anson Yang (Secretary and Electoral Officer)
